Dear Madame Le Maire de Ploudalmézeau

I am writing on behalf of Porthcawl Town Council as we are currently seeking a twinning partner in France. Having exchanged initial e-mails with the chair of your twinning association, Roger Appéré, we understand that you are seeking a new twinning partner in the UK and are happy to explore the possibility of our two towns becoming partners.

Porthcawl is a seaside town in South Wales with a population of c16,000 people, situated about 30 km to the West of Cardiff. Since 1999 the town has been twinned with St. Sebastien sur Loire near Nantes. Although we still have an active twinning association (and the charter is still in place), and despite our best efforts, St. Sebastien has not resumed active contact following the Covid 19 pandemic, and so we are seeking an additional twinning partner in France.

If as your twinning association has indicated, you would be interested in establishing a link with Porthcawl, please bring this to your town council and then let us know whether we can proceed.

Many thanks and kind regards,

Ceri John

Town Clerk
