20th Aniversary in Porthcawl
Visits combine the building of friendships, promoting a greater understanding of each others cultures and the considering of broader issues relating to the European community.
To join the association (PTTA) French language is not essential and for members it continues to be limited. It is the wish of the association to develop and encourage all the themes outlined in the Best Practive Guidelines.
During each year we hold various fund raising events with French themed presentations, music, films shows, quizzes, bingo and social evenings held at various venues to support our corporate members.
We also support annual prize giving at schools in Porthcawl and at senior level we award a shield and cash prizes. Over the years we have provide taster fun days in the primary schools, although this is subject to our 'qualified' members being available.
2009 was the 10th Anniversary of the Association and this was celebrated in Porthcawl with visits to several places of historic interest, beer tasting, dancing involving local folk and live music groups, other young performers, the Porthcawl Male voice choir and a celebration dinner.
All visits include some of these ingredients but also allow adequate time to be spent with the host families. Most visits are for five nights. In recent years we have added celebrations for Bastille Day, European Languages Day and Beaujolais Day to our programme.
In August 2014 we celebrated the 15th Anniversary of the twinning in France. It was a great success and a good time was had by all. We now look forward to our 20th Anniversary in 2019.
In August 2019 we celebrated the 20th Anniversary of the twinning in Porthcawl. It was a great success and a good time was had by all.
The Association is community led but retains its close relationship with Porthcawl Town Council with each years Mayor being our President.
New members and ideas are always welcome. RCL 2024
